Nyeri County Commissioner Michael Ole Tilal has cautioned against the rising cases of gay and lesbian prostitutes in the county.
Mr Tilal said the trend had been on the rise in recent weeks especially in areas around Majengo slums and along Kimathi Street in Nyeri town centre.
According to the commissioner, gay and lesbian sex workers have been eyeing popular joints and taxi operators in the town. Mr Tilal also expressed his disappointment towards the behavior claiming that it was against societal moral values. He promised to work around to restore them.
Police boss Charles Rotich said a crackdown had led to the arrest of 12 suspects in Majengo slums. Child prostitution is also a threat to the future of many families living in Majengo slums.
